The terms below are requirements for all products in the Twitter Certified Products Program. Current and potential partners must fully adhere to these requirements for certification. We encourage you to audit your product against all of these terms before applying to the Twitter Certified Products Program. During the application process, we review each product on a case by case basis and may indicate areas of improvement beyond the requirements below before we certify a product into the program. However these requirements serve as a good baseline for your product’s development.

Be a Good Partner

Twitter looks for partners with products that enable businesses to be more successful on the platform. We aim to certify the products and services that make Twitter more valuable to businesses, encourage their use of Twitter, and bring Twitter to new users.

Guidelines
•Make Twitter more valuable to businesses and solve a need that Twitter does not address
•Help bring Twitter to new or underserved markets
•Twitter is a core part of your product and you make use of all applicable APIs and features
•Integrations behave as consistently as possible with Twitter’s own products
•Encourage meaningful engagement with the Twitter network
•You are working on an opportunity with significant impact
•Use Twitter Platform products rather than creating similar products

Attribution Guidelines

Tweets offer a unique source of unique source of real-time content. Twitter also provides an unprecedented source of public data for analytics products. We look for partners who extend the impact of Twitter through unique integrations and analytics that encourage further engagement with Twitter.
•Use the nomenclature of Twitter to describe Twitter-based analytics, e.g. “140 Tweets” not “140 Social Media mentions” (see the Twitter Glossary)
•Provide attribution to Twitter when creating experiences based on or derived from Tweets
•Allow users to easily understand Twitter’s contribution to the analytics you provide and do not obfuscate analytics built with Twitter data. If you include analytics from other networks or platforms, you must provide a Twitter-specific view.
•Your analytics are consistent with Twitter’s existing metrics, e.g. you report the same number of Retweets for a given Tweet
•Provide attribution to Twitter adjacent to any Twitter-based analytics

Badges and Program attribution

Twitter certifies products and services that meet the requirements of the Twitter Certified Products Program. Partners in the program display the badges they earn to allow their customers to recognize this level of distinction.

•Only display badges for products and services that you have earned a certification from Twitter
•You may not display badges for uncertified products or services
•Mention the program in your marketing materials only in connection with certified products and services
•Always use the full name of this program (“Twitter Certified Products Program”) when referencing it in press and marketing materials
•Certified products branded as another company’s solution (i.e. white-labled, or distributed as a partner’s equivalent) may not include a badge
•You should link your badge to your certified product page or the program home page whenever possible

In some[which?] industry sectors, monetization is a buzzword for adapting non-revenue-generating assets to generate revenue. Failure to monetize web sites was a problem that caused many businesses to fold during the dot-com bust. Web sites that do generate revenue are often monetized via advertisements or subscription fees. A previously free product may have premium options added thus becoming freemium.
A malapropism (also called a Dogberryism) is the use of an incorrect word in place of a word with a similar sound, resulting in a nonsensical, often humorous utterance. An example is Yogi Berra’s statement: “Texas has a lot of electrical votes,”[1] rather than “electoral votes”.

The word “malapropism” comes from the French “mal à propos” meaning “inappropriate”, and was personified by Richard Brinsley Sheridan in his comedy The Rivals (1775) as “Mrs. Malaprop”, a character who habitually misused her words, while Dogberryism comes from “Officer Dogberry”, the name of a character in William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. These are the two best-known fictional characters who made this kind of error—there are many other examples. Malapropisms also occur as errors in natural speech. Malapropisms are often the subject of media attention, especially when made by politicians or other prominent individuals.

A neologism (pron.: /niːˈɒlədʒɪzəm/; from Greek νέο- (néo-), meaning “new”, and λόγος (lógos), meaning “speech, utterance”) is a newly coined term, word, or phrase, that may be in the process of entering common use, but has not yet been accepted into mainstream language.[1] Neologisms are often directly attributable to a specific person, publication, period, or event. Νεολεξία (Greek: a “new word”, or the act of creating a new word) is a synonym for it. The term neologism is first attested in English in 1772, borrowed from French néologisme (1734).[2]

In psychiatry, the term neologism is used to describe the use of words that have meaning only to the person who uses them, independent of their common meaning.[3] This tendency is considered normal in children, but in adults can be a symptom of psychopathy[4] or a thought disorder (indicative of a psychotic mental illness, such as schizophrenia).[5] People with autism also may create neologisms.[6] Additionally, use of neologisms may be related to aphasia acquired after brain damage resulting from a stroke or head injury.[7]

A stunt word is a neologism created to produce a special effect, or to attract attention.[9] Examples are gloatation, titterosity, scrumtrulescent, malamanteau, and truthiness. Some stunt words are portmanteau words, and many are also based on malapropisms.[10][11]
